When does the conference begin and end?

The conference officially kicks off at 10AM on Monday, January 16th at the Broadway Centre Cinemas/Salt Lake Film Society. We have panels and a film screening before we move up to the Zermatt & Homestead Resorts in Midway, UT for the rest of the conference.

The conference concludes after the Closing Brunch on Thursday, January 19th, which goes from 10AM – 11:30AM. The shuttle buses will depart the resort no later than 12PM.

Getting to Zermatt and Homestead

The Resort is 51 miles from the Salt Lake City International Airport. In good weather it takes about an hour to drive to the Resort from the airport. Park City is about half way between Salt Lake and the Zermatt.

On Monday, January 16th, AHC will provide several free bus shuttles from Broadway Centre Cinemas/Salt Lake Film Society to Midway following the day’s events in Salt Lake City. Bus sign-up is via email and at the registration desk on-site.

On Thursday, January 19th, AHC will provide free buses to Park City and to the SLC airport following the conclusion of the conference. Bus sign-up is via email and at the registration desk on-site.

Snow Boots & Swimming Suits?!?!

Midway, Utah became a relaxing retreat location over 120 years ago because of the area’s natural warm mineral water craters.  The Zermatt Resort and its sister property the Homestead Resort offer a myriad of activities including cross country skiing, snow shoeing, sleigh rides plus a well appointed fitness center & full service spa.  One of the most unique features of the paired resorts is the Homestead Crater, a naturally occurring, mineral water fed limestone beehive with 90-96 degree water perfect for soaking, swimming or even scuba diving.

Dress Code

The Convergence style guide is the same as the Sundance Film Festival’s: Winter casual. The typical Convergence “uniform” is snow boots, jeans, and a ski jacket or ski vest (plus mittens, scarves, etc.).

Think Alpine Chalet...

The Zermatt Resort has a large central registration area, two restaurants and conference center. Most of the guest rooms are hotel style & attached to the central area but there are also condo style accommodations available in adjoining buildings. The conference center is directly adjacent to the central building so session rooms are just a few steps away. The sessions held at the Homestead Resort will be in their main building, just a short walk from the Zermatt.

Internet and Cell Phone Connectivity

The Zermatt and Homestead Resorts have FREE wireless Internet in all the guest rooms and conference rooms throughout the resort and the capacity of the wireless access was recently improved.

Verizon Wireless has solid coverage and works everywhere. All other cell phone carriers have signal availability, but rather spotty coverage.

**Please remember we will be in the mountains, so connectivity will be slower than usual.**

The Resorts Are Peaceful (meaning a bit remote)

You will be kept very busy during the Convergence. Most meals are provided as part of your Convergence fee and there are two restaurants and a small bakery at the resort. There are other restaurants, shops, and services in the nearby town of Midway but you will need an automobile or take a taxi to reach them.

Dining at the Zermatt and Homestead

There are three restaurant facilities on the resort grounds: Wildfire Smokehaus, Z Chop Haus, and Simon’s. All three will be open during the conference at varying times. Wildfire Smokehaus and Simon’s will be open for breakfast each morning.

Most of your meals are provided by the Convergence sponsors at no additional charge to delegates.  These meals will be held in the Bernese Event Center at the Zermatt Resort. There will be vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.
