JoAnna Cintron
Denver Film Society Marketing & Communications Manager
Denver
As a young Puerto Rican girl growing up in Aurora, Colorado, it's not a surprise JoAnna's favorite film was West Side Story. Also not shocking, JoAnna's first job was at the local multiplex. While she has professional experience as a film booker, producer for National Cinemedia, and studio publicist, more than twenty years later, JoAnna still sweeps popcorn.
In additional to sweeping popcorn at the Sie FilmCenter, as the Marketing & Communications Manager for the Denver Film Society, JoAnna spends a significant amount of time sending mass emails, pitching press for coverage, negotiating media partnerships and managing DFS' social media. JoAnna also co-founded the CineLatino Film Festival in 2014 with DFS Programming Manager Ernie Quiroz. In 2015, JoAnna was named the Coors Light Lider of the Year, earning CineLatino a $25,000 grant from Coors Light to help seed the festival and DFS' Latino outreach. Now in its third year, CineLatino has grown into one of DFS' largest programs, screening acclaimed films such as NERUDA, IXCANUL, THE VESSEL (among other titles) and closed the festival with the Colorado premiere of DESIERTO and Jonas Cuaron in-person. JoAnna remains optimistic Gael Garcia Bernal will come to CineLatino someday.
